WWDI 3: Kitty Bungalow

Have you ever been sitting by your television and all the sudden the song “In the Arms of an Angel” comes on, and you know exactly what images are on the screen. Malnourished, neglected, and abused animals hiding in piles of trash or in dark basements locked away. While these images are sickening to look at. It is the reality of the world we live in. Everyday animals are dumped by their owners or horribly abused and mistreated.

I have been very passionate about animals, especially cats, for my entire life, as I grew up with cats and always felt that I had a connection with them. I would beg my parents to get me cats when I was younger and chase after a stray whenever I got the opportunity. While I have not done as much as I would like to in the volunteering aspect, I found an organization that immediately sparked my interest.

Kitty Bungalow - Charm School for Wayward Cats is a cat shelter with many different offerings. This local organization is just minutes from the USC campus and is committed to being a no kill shelter. Additionally, they have many different programs that they offer and rely solely on community support. One of the many programs that Kitty Bungalow (KB) offers is a trap, neuter, return, or (TNR) program that captures stray cats in the area and spayed or neutered them in order to control the population. This results in less strays on the street and healthier cats in the community. Another program they provide is working cats (WC). Since many cats do prefer the outdoor lifestyle, KB provides WC to interested customers. These working cats can be purchased for a fee of only $5 and they can live in any garden, warehouse, or farm. They work to be a natural pest repellent and stop other animals from ingesting poisonous materials like rat poison.

On top of these programs, they provide the basic offering such as volunteering opportunities, adoptions, and fostering. While KB does amazing work within the community, they still rely on donations for almost everything they require, even cars to help with TNR expeditions. We have the chance to make change in our own backyard and Kitty Bungalow needs it now.

For all of these reasons, this is why Kitty Bungalow is the organization that I am pitching Anima Mundi Development Partners to invest in. Not only do they TNR at no cost for the greater good of the community, but they have volunteers socialize with the cats in order for them to be suitable for adoption. They are working to change the life of one cat at a time, and it is up to us as humans to be the difference that they cannot make themselves. This investment would be extremely beneficial to not only the organization, but the community as a whole. Join me in making a difference and invest in Kitty Bungalow today!
